Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information ToolBox ("we", "us", "the site") collects when you use our tools, and how that information is used. We designed ToolBox to collect as little data as possible — most tools never send your data anywhere at all.
1. Data from browser-based tools
The large majority of tools on ToolBox (marked "Instant" throughout the site) run entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. Text you type, files you choose, and results generated are processed locally on your device and are never transmitted to our servers. Closing the tab or reloading the page discards everything.
2. Data from server-processed tools
A small number of tools (marked "Server") require sending data to our server to work:
- PDF Merge / PDF Watermark & Page Numbers: the files you upload are processed on our server and the result is made available for download. Uploaded and generated files are automatically deleted from our server within one hour.
- URL Shortener: the destination URL you submit is stored so that the short link can redirect to it. We also record how many times each short link is used.
- Contact Form: the name, email address, and message you submit are stored so we can respond to you, along with your IP address, which we use to prevent spam and abuse.
3. Cookies and local storage
We use browser local storage (not third-party tracking) for:
- Remembering your light/dark theme preference.
- Remembering your cookie consent choice.
A session cookie is set only when you use the Contact Form, to protect the form against cross-site request forgery. It contains no personal information and expires when your browser session ends.
4. Advertising
ToolBox may display advertisements served by Google AdSense to help cover the cost of running the site. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. 5. Third-party services
The Currency Converter tool fetches live exchange rates directly from the Frankfurter API (a free, third-party service). Only the currency codes you select are sent in that request — no personal information is included.
6. Data retention
Uploaded files for PDF tools are deleted within one hour. Contact form submissions and URL shortener entries are retained until deleted by us; you may request deletion of your contact submission at any time via the Contact page.
7. Your choices
You can manage or withdraw cookie consent at any time using the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer of any page. You can also clear your browser's local storage to remove your saved theme preference and consent choice.
8. Children's privacy
ToolBox is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
